I had signed up on some kind of ITS notification service with Penn State and received an email notifying me of their new contract with Box and a 50 Gb space for all psu user accounts.
This sounds great, but technically does not affect me much as I already have a box account via some old Dell promotion (50 Gb). However, I did look into the fine print to see if I could get one specifically for Penn State related research materials and data and this is where I did a double take. I have no problem giving companies access to my files for administrative purposes but to seek a very specific "royalty free, irrevocable" permission by sneaking in a hidden fine print clause is just not, how to put it, "cool".
I hope I am not being too sensationalist, but if you have seen this kind of "irrevocable, royalty free" fine print at other reputable cloud storage user agreements, I would be happy to hear from you . Please feel free to comment or share this and discuss this either here or on other social media. I will cross post this on facebook too.
Also, I think the website is http://box.psu.edu
